Product Warnings and Guidance — Precautions and Contraindications
Background
Therabody products are designed to unlock the body’s natural ability to achieve health and well-being. There will be times when it is advisable to modify how devices are used (precautions) or times when it is not appropriate to use certain devices (contraindications). As with any medical device, we recommend speaking to your medical professional if you have any questions.

Theragun and Wave Devices
Precautions:
- Hypertension (controlled), Osteopenia, Osteoporosis, Pregnancy, Diabetes, Varicose veins, Bony prominences, Abnormal sensations, Sensitivity to pressure, Recent injury/surgery, Scoliosis.
Contraindications:
- Open wounds, Skin rash, Deep vein thrombosis, Bone fracture, Uncontrolled hypertension, Severe cardiac/kidney disease, Pacemaker, ICD, Direct application to face/throat/genitalia.
Theragun Pro Plus & Prime Plus
Recommendations for hot, cold, percussive, infrared light, and vibration therapy.
Contraindications:
- Allergy to device material (TPU, PC+ABS, etc.), Cancer/tumors, Epilepsy, Cardiopathy, Photo allergy (Lupus), Medications for severe acne, or usage of Retinol/benzoyl peroxide (for LED light).
Pneumatic Compression Devices
Precautions:
Use with caution on patients with heart disease. High pressure is not recommended for peripheral occlusion disease.
Contraindications:
- Significant arterial insufficiency, Edema from congestive heart failure, Active phlebitis, Known or suspected DVT, Cardiopulmonary Edema, Severe Migraines.
PowerDot Electrical Stimulation
Precautions:
- Do not use near metal or strong magnets (MRI). Do not use at altitudes over 3,000 meters. Avoid use over sympathetic ganglia or vagus nerve.
Contraindications:
- Cardiac stimulator (pacemaker), Epilepsy, Serious circulation disorders, Abdominal or inguinal hernia. Do not use over swollen or inflamed areas.
TheraFace Pro & Mask
Microcurrent Precautions:
- Recent facial surgery/neurotoxin/fillers until healed. Do not use over facial hair or center of neck (bone).
- Eye-related disorders (retinitis pigmentosa), Pregnancy, Melasma (if exacerbated by warmth), Allergy to Lycra/Silicone.
LED & Vibration Contraindications:
RecoveryPulse & RecoveryTherm Series
Important:
- Do not wear garments overnight while sleeping. Should fit tightly but NOT restrict circulation.
- Contraindications: Herniated disks (for Back/Core), Peripheral neuropathy, History of embolism.
SmartGoggles & Lounger
SmartGoggles:
Remove contact lenses before use. Do not use in the presence of unexplained pain.
Therabody Lounger:
- Contraindications: Psychoses, Seizure disorders, Acute inflammatory disease, Pacemaker or ICD.
